Vasa Powder (Adhatoda Vasica)

*The word vasa in Sanskrit means to live, and traditionally vasa is a useful herb to promote life force or energy into the lungs, respiratory system, detoxifies the blood, liver, and skin. Vasa improves voice quality, and as a result, it is often used by singers, to clear throat and to enhance their voice. Given its ability to address issues in the respiratory passage it is commonly used for Kapha congestion in the nose, throat, and chest.

Suggested Use: 1/2 to 1 teaspoon in powder form, once or twice daily, or use as directed by your health practitioner.

Morphology:
Vasa is an evergreen shrub, growing up to a height of 3 feet. It has many opposite branches, as long as 1 – 1.5 feet. Leaves are large, exstipulate, wide and lance-shaped. The stem is herbaceous above and woody below. The flowers are white, streaked with pink or purple. Bracts are large, leafy and ovate. Seeds are sub-orbicular and rugose.
