In fact, the meaning of Shatavari is that which has hundreds of roots. It is considered to keep the female reproductive system healthy and support healthy conception. Additionally, Shatavari promotes lactation after childbirth. The Shatavari plant is very versatile in that it can grow in a variety of climates in South Asia. Morphology:
Shatavari is a scandant climber, highly branched, prickly under shrub. Prickles 0.5-1.5 cm in length. Roots are tuberous, elongated, straight or curved. Flowers appear in racemes, 2.5 – 5 cm in length. pedicles – 0.4 cm. Fruits are berry, pea like, small, red when ripe. Fruits are red in color.Shatavari is found in entire India, upto an altitude of 4,000 feet.
